If you select an ERIP lump sum payment to be paid to you directly, a cheque will be mailed to the address you have provided four to six weeks after your ERIP application is approved. Income tax and outstanding overpayments will be deducted in their entirety from your ERIP lump sum.

If you opt out to roll all or part of the ERIP lump sum payment into an RRSP, you will be asked to provide additional information. No income tax is withheld on the portion rolled into the RRSP.

Do you want some or all of your ERIP payment to be transferred directly to your RRSP?Missing or incorrect valueIndividuals with years of service before 1996 can defer tax on the eligible portion of a retiring allowance by transferring it to their RRSP. The transfer has no impact on your individual regular RRSP deduction limit. Anything above the retiring allowance is considered to be a non-eligible amount that may be transferred to an RRSP provided that it is within the limit of your RRSP deduction limit.
